jenda-village-well-project
Jenda Village Well Project

For the 600 residents of Jenda Village, water means a long walk and then a wait. The village has no access to safe drinking water, and the source people travel to is a dambo, a marshy wetland, where the water gathers in an open, shallow hole at the foot of an earth bank beside the maize fields. Women step down to its edge and dip their containers into the dark, standing water, then tip them into buckets, while others, children among them, wait their turn on the path with buckets of their own. The dambo is shared with livestock and wild animals. Jenda lies close to the trading center, yet its people still travel a long distance for water. This area is at high risk for cholera and other waterborne diseases, presenting severe health risks to the entire community.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0712/0859/9749/files/JENDA-VILLAGE-2026-10-01-21-15-14-02.jpg?v=1790910024
