Water of Mercy
Bundi Village Well Project
Bundi Village Well Project
Location: Bundi Village, Malawi Africa
Population: 350+ residents plus nearby primary school
Current Water Situation: The 350 residents of Bundi Village have no access to safe drinking water. The only water source is a muddy stream shared with livestock and wild animals, where families and children must stand in the flowing brown water to scoop it into buckets and containers. The water is visibly contaminated with mud and sediment, and this area is prone to cholera and other waterborne diseases, presenting severe health risks to the entire community, including learners and teachers at the nearby primary school.
Project Impact: A properly constructed borehole in Bundi Village will serve 350 people, including children and staff at the nearby primary school. This essential infrastructure will provide clean, safe drinking water directly in the village, eliminating the need for residents to collect contaminated water from a muddy stream shared with livestock and wild animals. The project will dramatically reduce the risk of cholera and other waterborne diseases that threaten this community, fundamentally improving the overall health and well-being of residents. School children will have access to safe water during their educational day, supporting better health outcomes and learning environments. Families will gain reliable access to clean water year-round, breaking the cycle of disease caused by their current contaminated water source.
