Choose a Village. Change Everything.
In rural Malawi, families have been forced to collect unsafe water from open pits shared with livestock. Your donation funds a complete freshwater well for a specific village, drilled, installed, and cared for locally, at a fraction of typical project cost. Each well can provide safe water for thousands of people in that village for decades, with an expected service life of about 75 years. Choose an available village below to get started.

Yesaya Village Well Project
The 700 residents of Yesaya Village have no access to safe drinking water. The only water source is a "dambo" — a shallow, marshy wetland where murky water collects among mud and tangled vegetation. Residents must crouch at the water's edge to scoop this dark, sediment-filled water into buckets and containers. The water is shared with livestock and wild animals. This area is also at high risk for cholera and other waterborne diseases, presenting severe health risks to the entire community. A properly constructed borehole in Yesaya Village will serve 700 people and provide clean, safe drinking water to replace this dangerous water source, dramatically improving the overall health and well-being of residents.Regular price $1.00 USDRegular priceUnit price perSale price $1.00 USDGoal: Loading...Raised: Loading...Progress: Loading... -
Kapili Village Well Project
The 700 residents of Kapili Village have no access to safe drinking water. The only water available comes from a shallow, open waterhole that is little more than a murky brown puddle spread across muddy ground. Residents, including learners and teachers at the nearby primary school, must crouch at the water's edge to scoop this contaminated water into buckets and containers. The water is shared with livestock, and the primary school itself has no water source of its own, leaving children dependent on this same dangerous supply. This area is at high risk for cholera and other waterborne diseases, presenting severe health risks to the entire community. A properly constructed borehole in Kapili Village will serve 700 people and provide the primary school with safe water essential for the health and education of its students, dramatically improving the overall health and well-being of residents.Regular price $1.00 USDRegular priceUnit price perSale price $1.00 USDGoal: Loading...Raised: Loading...Progress: Loading... -

The only water source is a muddy stream shared with livestock and wild animals, where families and children must stand in the flowing brown water to scoop it into buckets and containers. The water is visibly contaminated with mud and sediment, and this area is prone to cholera and other waterborne diseases, presenting severe health risks to the entire community, including learners and teachers at the nearby primary school. A properly constructed borehole in Bundi Village will serve 350 people and provide clean, safe drinking water to replace this dangerous water source, dramatically improving the overall health and well-being of residents.Regular price $1.00 USDRegular priceUnit price perSale price $1.00 USDGoal: Loading...Raised: Loading...Progress: Loading... -
Chizule Village Well Project
The Chizule Village Well Project has been successfully completed. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of a single donor, Steve A. and his 96-year-old mother, Chizule Village was fully funded just days after its project was published on February 7, 2026. Steve A. has a deep and longstanding connection to this mission — he helped fund one of Father Petros's early well projects before Water of Mercy was officially formed, and he and his mother also funded nearly 90% of the Zebediya Village Well Project. Drilling was completed on February 22, 2026, with an excellent water flow. The pump blessing took place on March 3, 2026, with Father Petros presiding over the ceremony. This is the first time Chizule Village has ever had access to fresh, clean water. More than 520 people now have access to clean, safe drinking water. A local water committee will be established for maintenance and management of the well. With proper care, it should serve the community for approximately 75 years.Regular price $1.00 USDRegular priceUnit price perSale price $1.00 USDGoal: Loading...Raised: Loading...Progress: Loading... -
Zakariya Village Well Project
The Zakariya Village Well Project was successfully funded on March 23rd 2026! We will provide more information as soon as well drilling is completed. The 450+ residents of Zakariya Village have no access to safe drinking water. The only water available comes from a "dambo", a shallow, marshy wetland area where murky, contaminated water collects among the grass and mud. Residents must kneel in the wet ground to scoop this brown, sediment-filled water into buckets and containers. Livestock and wild animals share the same water source, and this area is prone to cholera and other waterborne diseases. Some residents travel 1.5 kilometers to reach the nearest borehole in Chizani Village, a well that Water of Mercy constructed last year that already serves over 500 people. A properly constructed borehole in Zakariya Village will serve 450 people and provide clean, safe drinking water directly in their village, dramatically improving the overall health and well-being of residents.Regular price $1.00 USDRegular priceUnit price perSale price $1.00 USDGoal: Loading...Raised: Loading...Progress: Loading... -

With proper care, it should serve the community for approximately 75 years.Regular price $1.00 USDRegular priceUnit price perSale price $1.00 USDGoal: Loading...Raised: Loading...Progress: Loading... -
Msambanyifwa Village Well Project
Msambanyifwa Village was successfully funded on January 12, 2026, thanks to 14 generous donors. Drilling was completed on January 29, 2026, at a depth of 66 meters, and the water flow was extraordinary. The well is now complete and more than 875 residents are drawing fresh, clean water for the first time in their history. No longer must villagers climb down into a dangerous 15-foot (5-meter) deep pit to collect contaminated water. Father Petros has instructed the community to begin using the borehole immediately while they await his arrival for the official blessing ceremony. Due to ongoing flooding in Malawi that began in late December 2025 and continued through February 2026, travel to the village remains unsafe. Father Petros will join the community for a formal pump blessing once bridge repairs are complete and the journey can be made safely.Regular price $1.00 USDRegular priceUnit price perSale price $1.00 USDGoal: Loading...Raised: Loading...Progress: Loading... -

The Water of Mercy Difference
Why Your Generosity Goes Further and Creates Lasting Change
Maximum Efficiency, Proven Results
Our local partnerships allow us to drill complete wells for approximately half of what other water charities require. With 100% volunteer staff, we operate with minimal overhead. Our first well in Yotamu Village proved what's possible: for just $5,000, we delivered clean water to 400 people in 14 days. Since then, we've funded and built over a 14 wells serving over 11,000 people across rural Malawi—each completed in about 3 days from drilling to flowing water. Communities begin benefiting within days, not months, with wells serving them for approximately 75 years.
One Well, 75 Years, Hundreds of Families
When you fund a well that serves a village of hundreds today, you're not just helping one generation. You're transforming lives for approximately 75 years. Think about it: the babies born on the day your well is completed will grow up, raise their own children, and live to see their grandchildren, maybe even great-grandchildren, drawing clean water from that same well. Over three generations, hundreds of families—and the generations they raise—will be served by your single gift. The well you fund in 2026 will still be providing safe water in 2101, creating a permanent solution to water poverty and a legacy that continues blessing the community long into the future.
Focus on Rural Malawi
Every morning before dawn, mothers in rural Malawi begin walking, sometimes for kilometers, to collect water from shallow, muddy holes in the ground shared with livestock and wild animals. They return home with containers of murky water that can often make their children sick. This landlocked nation of 22 million ranks among the world's least developed, with 71% living in poverty. By focusing exclusively on rural Malawi, we concentrate our resources where a single well transforms an entire village's daily reality.
Radical Transparency
In an age where donors rightfully question where their money goes, we offer something different: complete visibility. Choose your village from detailed profiles. Track real-time funding progress on each village's dedicated page. Follow construction through photos and videos—from drilling to blessing ceremony. Witness the moment clean water flows. No overhead, no ambiguity. Just your generosity, visibly transforming lives for decades to come.
