Yesaya Village Well Project
Yesaya Village Well Project
Location: Yesaya Village, Malawi Africa
Population: 700
Current Water Situation: The Yesaya Village Well Project was successfully funded on June 2nd 2026! We will provide more information as soon as well drilling is completed. The 700 residents of Yesaya Village have no access to safe drinking water. The only water source is a "dambo" β a shallow, marshy wetland where murky water collects among mud and tangled vegetation. Residents must crouch at the water's edge to scoop this dark, sediment-filled water into buckets and containers. The water is shared with livestock and wild animals. This area is also at high risk for cholera and other waterborne diseases, presenting severe health risks to the entire community. Please look closely at the images of the murky water villagers are forced to drink and the daily struggle they endure.
Project Impact: A properly constructed borehole in Yesaya Village will serve 700 people. This essential infrastructure will provide clean, safe drinking water directly in the village, eliminating the community's dependence on a contaminated marshy dambo shared with livestock and wild animals. The project will dramatically reduce the risk of cholera and other waterborne diseases that threaten this community, fundamentally improving the overall health and well-being of residents. Families will gain reliable access to clean water year-round, breaking the cycle of disease caused by their current contaminated water source.
