Water of Mercy
Chizani Village Well Project
Chizani Village Well Project
Location: Chizani Village, Malawi Africa
Population: 500+ residents plus nearby primary school
Current Water Situation: This well project was fully funded on September 20th, 2025, and the well was drilled and installed in just a single long day. The drilling operation struck water at just 30 meters and continued to a full 60 meters to ensure a prolonged lifespan. The boring crew also worked into the night to complete the well and insure proper functioning. This is quite remarkable as the entire drilling and pump installation process was completed in just one day. The well is now operational and serving the community. test
Project Impact: As shown in these images, before this well was installed, families in Chizani Village were forced to rely on shallow, hand-dug wells that produced murky, contaminated water. These were little more than muddy pools where they had to kneel in the dirt to collect cloudy, debris-filled water in whatever containers they could find. Today, more than 500 people in this scattered remote community now have access to clean, safe drinking water. Students and staff at the nearby primary school can now drink safe water during the school day, supporting better health outcomes and improved educational attendance. Families no longer need to risk their health collecting contaminated water from dangerous, unsafe sources. With proper management, this vital resource should serve the community for approximately 75 years. Please visit the Chizani Village news page to see images and videos of the completed well.
