Kabiza Village Well Project
Kabiza Village Well Project
Location: Kabiza Village, Malawi Africa
Population: 700+
Current Water Situation: This well project was fully funded on October 5, 2025, and drilling was successfully completed in just one day. The borehole achieved a very high water yield, and the concrete pad will be completed shortly. The well is now operational and will soon be officially handed over to the community during a Catholic Mass on Monday, November 10th, 2025. Kabiza Village now has reliable access to clean, safe water directly in the village.
Project Impact: Before this project, families in Kabiza Village were forced to walk over 1 kilometer to collect water from shallow, hand-dug wells shared with livestock. These open water sources were heavily contaminated with mud, debris, and animal waste, creating murky, unsafe water that posed serious health risks to the entire community. Families had no choice but to collect this contaminated water in buckets for drinking, cooking, and daily use. Today, more than 700 people in Kabiza Village have access to clean, safe drinking water. Children no longer need to make dangerous water collection journeys and will have more time for education. Families no longer face the daily burden of walking long distances for contaminated water, and the risk of waterborne diseases has been dramatically reduced. The high water yield from this well ensures reliable access to abundant clean water year-round. With proper maintenance and management by the community water committee, this vital resource should serve Kabiza Village for approximately 75 years.
